HDPE plastics are used to make various products ranging from juice, milk and laundry detergent bottles. HDPE plastic products are harder and more opaque which allows them to be highly resistant to the chemicals they contain. This is one reason why they are used for chemicals such as bleaches. All of these properties make the HDPE plastic a very resistant product however this means the more resistant they are the harder it is for them to naturally breakdown. The option is to either dump them in landfills where they will remain for perhaps thousands of years, or even incinerate them which would cause them to release harmful chemicals into the atmosphere, or recycle! Since HDPE plastics are so sturdy they are excellent candidates for recycling. Reusing this material is the best way to stop it filling up in landfills and creating harmful gases. Binders are an innovative new idea for the use of HDPE plastics since it allows for an extremely strong, reliable and resistant binder.
